PK Rules
- All PVP must be IN CHARACTER. Killing another PC for OOC reasons is strictly forbidden.
- Note that for balance reasons, it is not permissable to loot other PCs.
- stealing gold and items requires prior ooc consent and OP supervision, and is highly discoruaged.
- No PC shall kill another without prior OOC consent UNLESS virtual consent has been given.
- Characters with a charisma below 8 receive no protection from PVP. Ther character is assumed to be giving consent merely through their innately annoying nature. [a form of virtual consent]
- Evil aligned characters are not eligable for pk protection. [ a form of virtual consent]
- if your character has comitted atrocities against other characters or groups, you perminantly forefit pk protection against them ( i.e. if Ellena went to toddheim and killed a bunch of baby orcs one day then orcs would be justified in attacking her for that.) [ a form of virtual consent]
- Insulting a character, their family, their deity, or their nation to their face counts as virtual consent ( think of the old saying, "Them's fightin' words") [a form of virtual consent]
- Molesting a slave qualifies as consent to be killed by the slave's owner. Insulting the slave's owner, in front of the slave, hampering it's duties, or physically molesting or impeding it all count as consent. Insulting the slave it's self generally does not. [a form of virtual consent]
- If a lower level PC heckles a higher level one just because we have OOC PK rules they will almsot certanly give virtual consent in the process, thus stripping them of pk protection. [a form of virual consent.]
- Klling a pc in ways that prevent ressurection, while allowed, is generally discouraged and should generally be avoided unless the offense was egregous. Please consult an op before permakilling another pc.
- The use of social skills ( intimidate, bluff, diplomacy, etc. ) against other player characters is not allowed. Player to player social interacton is to be role played, not rollplayed, although completely ignoring another player's social skills is very poor roleplaying. (i.e. you don't have to run away when a high intimidate character glares at you, but keep in mind that most sane people would at least back down to avoid beign killed...)
- 2. The use of mind effecting magics such as charm person, mindrape, bardic facinate, etc. requires ooc consent from the "victem."
- The use of "timeout" spells such as maze, hold person, sleep, etc. while not strictly prohibited, should generally be limited to circumstances where consent or virtual consent has already been given. Likewise the use of "physical" timeout meausres such as grappling, or knocking a character unconscious should follow the same basic limits.
- Rape, perminant mind or body warping magics, and physical mutilation require active ooc consent. Virtual consent is not sufficient in these cases.
- If virtual consent has been given, instead of killing, they may choose the lesser action of removing of an ear, hand, arm, or the destruction of a prized weapon or posession (though not a slave), although it is highly preferable to discuss this oocly first.
In summary
1
The pk protection rules are intended to protect low level characters from being killed, raped, or maimed without cause. They are in no way shape or form designed to protect low level characters who decide to mouth off to more powerful ones. If you attack people be it verbally, socially, economically, magically, or physically, you should generally expect to not be protected afterwords. In otherwords, if your lowbie likes to mouth off expect to have people beat the crap out of him on a regualar basis or even kill him.
Help support Kethmar it's less painful than you'd think.
